Jabil
Position: Mechanical Assembler III
Dates: Dec. 2010 – May 2011
The Jabil manufacturing facility I worked at was primarily focused on the manufacturing of completed circuit boards for a wide array of applications. The facility did, however, also complete mechanical assembly / manufacturing of some medical devices and enterprise emulator equipment for the semiconductor industry; it is in the mechanical assembly area which I primarily worked.
My primary responsibilities consisted of working on a small team (2-4 people) to build the enterprise emulators. Much of this work involved assembling a finished product from prebuilt components, however, some components were built / created by the team. Also, due to upstream manufacturing issues a great deal of time was spent correcting issues with the chassis (e.g., drilling and tapping holes for correct parts alignment) during our manufacturing process.
During times where there were no emulator orders to be filled I would help with various manufacturing activities throughout the plant. These activities included electronic component soldering on PCBs, prepping circuit boards and their components for the wave soldering process, and assembly of medical devices.
